Bus Shelters

New bus shelters or maintenance of an existing bus shelter.

Under the Road Management Act 2004, infrastructure including facilities connected with bus stopping points such as shelters and seats, are normally the responsibility of Public Transport Victoria (PTV). In Surf Coast the Council has taken on the management of some additional bus shelters, funded by PTV in an effort to have more protection for patrons from our coastal weather conditions at exposed and higher usage bus stops. This has helped to make the network more appealing for the community and more comfortable for those who are reliant on public transport. We will continue to maintain any shelters and seats installed by us for the life of the shelter or seat.

We continue to work with Public Transport Victoria to resolve the management of existing and the funding of new bus shelters to support our public transport network across Surf Coast Shire.

Should you have a request or concern regarding a bus stop or bus movements through your local street, these requests would sit under the management of PTV and you can contact them via their website or by phone: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au or call 1800 800 007.
