September/October 2024 School Holiday Program - A Day on the Farm

You will get the chance to be a farmer for the day, getting outdoors, meeting friendly farm animals and doing some hands-on farm work and play.

You will learn about the regenerative farm at Common Ground Project and how the land is cared for while producing nourishing produce for the community to enjoy.

  • Suitable for ages 8-14
  • A maximum of 12 participants per day, supervised by Common Ground Project educators and farm team.
  • Runs from 9am – 1pm (4 hours)
  • Price per person - $50 + GST
  • Ticket bookings through the event link. Tickets sold out for the July school holiday program so get in early. 

Outline for the Day - The program will vary depending on the season and what tasks need doing on the farm.

9am         

Arrive at Common Ground Project

Welcome activities and introductions

 9.30am Interactive farm tour, including your chance to meet the friendly farm animals.  
10.30am Morning tea, bring your own food or purchase at the cafe. 
11am Hands on farm activities, planting, harvesting, compost making. All activities are weather and season dependant. 
12pm Farm craft and gift making
12.45pm  End of day activities and goodbyes 
1pm  Depart from Common Ground Project

 

What to Wear & Bring - Come dressed for any weather – rain, hail or shine!

Wear waterproof and sun-smart clothing, including a rain jacket, hat, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, pants and comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Please note to protect yourself on the farm you must wear closed-toed shoes. Flat boots or gumboots are suitable, especially when it rains.

Bring your own food - Food will be available to purchase at the cafe. If your child has dietary requirements, please pack your own.

Behavioural Expectations - A Day on the Farm is an exciting day of interactions with plants, animals, staff and farm equipment. All children are expected to listen to instructions and show respect to animals and each other. If there are circumstances where behaviour becomes a concern, the child's emergency contact will be called and they will need to be collected.
