Surfers For Climate will be hosting a series of film screenings of our new film ‘Great Ocean Love’ as well as panel discussions focused on the boundless oceanic opportunities for addressing the climate crisis in November and we’d love for you to join us.

Part documentary, part road trippin’ surf flick, Great Ocean Love is all about the saltwater women of the deep south and their shared love for the rugged coastline we call home. The film follows Belinda Baggs, Linley Hurrell and Lilly Pollard on a journey of discovery that features local women who love the coastline like they do, as well as a whale dreaming story that can teach all of us a few lessons on why we need to protect the places we love.

Each film screening will include panel discussions to kick things of f, with topics of discussion being big ocean energy and what we can be doing to harness the power of the waves, as well as the threats to biodiversity posed by the continued exploration for oil and gas in the Otway Basin.

These events are in partnership with the Surf Film Archive, who have donated two incredible short films of women surfing in the 1970’s with Pam Burridge, Pru Howarth and Jodie Cooper and some other great names as well as footage that has never been shown before, straight from the cutting room floor of women in the surf in the 70’s around Australia and Hawaii.

Food and drinks will be on offer at each Carpark Cinema event Make sure to grab your tickets for a night of conversation and big ocean love!

The Great Ocean Love Carpark Cinema series will kick off in Lorne on Friday 4th November and will then proceed to the following locations: Apollo Bay, Port Campbell, Warrnambool, Torquay.
