DRAW! is a progressive drawing/studio/exhibition project (we can keep adding to it!) that anyone can participate in – all skill levels, abilities or ages.

Get involved

Bring in your drawings, take a challenge and/or draw at Anglesea Art Space. Children can participate with adult supervision (the adults can draw too!)

Closing celebration

Final gathering to view drawings on display Sunday 14 July, 2-4pm

There are 3 ways to participate:

1. OPEN CALL

It's all about drawing!

An opportunity to exhibit your unframed or framed drawings, doodles, studies, experiments, sketchbooks, art books, 3D, etc.

You are also welcome to participate in drawing challenges, or come and draw in the space.

  • DELIVER unframed, framed or '3D' drawings

    11am - 4pm, Thu 26 - Sun 30 June
    Anglesea Art Space, Shop 2, 103 Great Ocean Rd (corner of Noble St)

  • No need to register, just turn up!
  • Any subject or technique
  • Up to 3 works per person (depending on size), small installation or a group collaboration.
  • Drawings can be for sale, or not for sale (NFS).
  • Unframed works: if they are too big or heavy for blu tac, or need to be suspended, please bring appropriate hanging accessories: eg bull dog clips, 3M Command damage free hanging strips, magnetic wooden poster hangers, eyelets.
    We cannot use pins or double sided tape on our freshly painted walls.
  • Framed works: attach hanging wire

2. DRAWING CHALLENGES

Draw at home or in the environment, then bring your drawings in during open hours (Thu-Sun 11am-4pm) to be displayed, and/OR draw at Anglesea Art Space.

Draw some birds:

  • We'll create a flock of birds on the wall
  • They can be small, big, unframed, framed.

Draw your walk:

  • walk alone or invite others to join you
  • use a continuous line to map your walking path - they might overlap, be grouped or connected in some way
  • what do you see on your walk – field sketches
  • what do you hear - what marks can you use to depict the sounds around you.

3. STUDIO

Draw at Anglesea Art Space.

We'll have tables and chairs set up, and even some paper on the floor.

Materials

  • Bring your own paper/material, pencils, textas, etc., OR
  • Some materials and drawing tools will be available to use.

Request to use the space outside open hours (over 18 years of age).
Completed work can then be displayed in the space.

  • Draw with friends
  • Collaborate
  • Hold a drawing activity or challenge.

Hold a free drawing activity for kids during the school holidays.

  • You must have a Working with Children Check.

Develop a drawing for the window.

  • Some liquid chalk will be made available.

 


Drawing techniques:

  • realistic, detailed, abstract, expressive, sketchy, a continuous line, illustrative, cartoonish, scratchy
  • use your opposite hand, draw with your eyes closed
  • mapping, connecting, overlaying, tracing.


Drawing tools:

  • pens, pencils, textas, technical pens, crayons, pastels, digital
  • get experimental – pencils/textas tied to sticks, taped to gloves, taped to shoes, stuck on a hat!
