Community Playgroups
Community playgroups provide an opportunity for parents and young children to come together in a fun, safe, and relaxed environment. They provide an opportunity for children to play, explore and develop their social skills. Adults attending playgroup get a chance to meet other people going through similar experiences, ease the isolation that can come with caring for young children and find out about local community, health and support services.
Community run playgroups operate in the below areas:
- Jan Juc
- Torquay
- Moriac
- Winchelsea
Find out the days, times and contact point for these playgroups at the Playgroups Victoria website, or call the Torquay Children’s Hub on 5261 0549.
Mothergoose Baby Playgroup
Our Child and Family Health team run a "Mothergoose" baby song and rhyme playgroup every week in Torquay. Families with babies under 12 months are encouraged to come along, meet other families, and learn some new songs to sing together.
12pm, Tuesdays during school term @ Kurrambee Myaring Community Centre, Torquay.
Smalltalk Playgroup
Surf Coast Shire, in partnership with Meli, runs two Smalltalk playgroups in Lorne and Anglesea. These playgroups are facilitated by a qualified early years professional who provides support and activities for you and your child to enjoy together. Weekly topics exploring how young children develop and learn are also discussed. Please contact Meli to register your interest: info@meli.org.au
