Don’t hesitate –seek assistance if needed

There is specialist assistance available to those in the agriculture industry affected by the recent Grampians National Park bushfire and the ongoing drought and we urge those in need to make contact.

The Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) is available to help.

As well as financial counselling, the RFCS Victoria West service offers wellbeing support to help with mental stresses resulting from financial issues, including support to:

  • develop strategies to cope with stress
  • recognise signs of poor health in themselves and/or their workers
  • set up a support network within family/friends/community
  • identify groups/activities within the community that can help
  • access health services through referrals.

Contact the RFCS Victoria West at 1300 735 578 or check out the wellbeing supports on their website: wswrcs.com.au/wellbeing

The National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH) is another valuable resource available to the agricultural industry, supporting drought and fire affected producers and families through:

  • distribution of mental health resources and support information
  • Managing Stress on the Farm book, which explores the common causes of stressors on farms and offers practical ways to deal with them.

Check out the NCFH Support Hub to access these valuable resources tailored for Victorian farmers and agricultural communities.

In addition, along with family and friends, there are wellbeing and mental health services available in the community to help you manage stress. If in need of support during difficult times, visit your local doctor (GP).
