Four public dual port electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed at Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea and Winchelsea.

Lorne

We have replaced the old 7kW single port EV charger in front of the Lorne Visitor Information Centre, 15 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne, with a 50kW dual port charger, providing a public charging station in this area.

Aireys Inlet

Work has commenced on the installation of an EV charger at the Aireys Inlet Community Hall car park, 6 Great Ocean Road, Aireys Inlet. Work is expected to be completed by the middle of the year. This will be the town's first public EV charger.

Winchelsea

The Winchelsea EV charger will be located in the Barwon Terrace precinct. A timeline for works is still being developed, but it is expected to be installed by the end of the year.

A number of other sites were assessed in Winchelsea before this site was chosen. The following criteria are required for an EV charging station:

  • Council owned and operated switchboard and meter.
  • Power supply available to be upgraded.
  • Location is convenient and easy to find for travellers.
  • Disability access.
  • Minimal impacts to heritage buildings.
  • Minimal impacts to current parking arrangements.

Anglesea

The location and timing  of works for the Anglesea EV charger is still being determined.  The charger is expected to be installed by the end of the year and will be the town's first public EV charger.

These EV chargers will be connected to the Chargefox platform.
