Four public dual port electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be installed at Lorne, Aireys Inlet, Anglesea and Winchelsea.

The charging station in Lorne is located at the Lorne Visitor Information Centre, 15 Mountjoy Parade, Lorne, replacing the existing broken charging station. This charging station is installed and operational.

The charging station in Aireys Inlet will be located at the Aireys Inlet Community Centre, 6 Great Ocean Road, Aireys Inlet.

The Winchelsea charging station will be located in the Barwon Terrace precinct. Planning has commenced, but installation is not expected until later in the year.

A number of sites were assessed in Winchelsea before this site was chosen as meeting the following criteria required for an EV charging station:

  • Council owned and operated switchboard and meter.
  • Power supply available to be upgraded.
  • Location is convenient and easy to find for travellers.
  • Disability access.
  • Minimal impacts to heritage buildings.
  • Minimal impacts to current parking arrangements.

Location of the Anglesea charging station is still to be confirmed.

The charging stations in Aireys Inlet and Anglesea will be the first public charging stations in each town.

These EV charging stations will be part of the Chargefox network, the largest EV charging network in Australia.

Thanks to the Victorian Government for providing funding of $343,000 for this project through the Destination Charging Across Victoria program
