The recruitment process

Application confirmation

You will receive an email confirming we’ve received your application.

Shortlisting

Within two weeks of the closing date, shortlisted candidates will receive a call by the hiring manager to discuss motivation for the application. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email.

Interviews

A panel will conduct interviews and inform you of the next steps and timeframes. Please let us know if you require any specific support or adjustments for the interview so we can organise these prior to your arrival.

Pre-employment checks

These may include:

  • Police check
  • Right to Work in Australia verification
  • Reference checks - Prepare contact details for two professional referees who can speak to your experience.
  • Employee Working with Children Check Learn more about Council's Child Safe commitment.
  • Medical assessment (for applicable roles)
  • Verification of qualifications

Please note: all new employees to Surf Coast Shire Council will be required to complete a six-month qualifying period.
