$108,554 – $119,737 pa/pro rata (plus 11.5% super and annual pay increases)

Your new career

In this role, you’ll be a key contributor to Council’s vision for future road and pathway infrastructure.

As part of the Road Strategy team, your focus will be on implementing infrastructure improvements that align with community needs and Council’s strategic objectives. You will coordinate and deliver key infrastructure upgrades, including roads and pathways.

Your efforts will directly influence how we improve safety, accessibility, and overall infrastructure quality for residents and stakeholders. Engaging with the community, you will facilitate consultations and provide strategic advice on transport and infrastructure improvements that align with long-term financial and planning objectives.

 

What you will bring to the role

You are an experienced and outcome-driven engineer with a passion for delivering community-focused infrastructure solutions.

Your background includes managing complex projects, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and delivering upgrades that make a tangible difference. You have:

  • a proactive approach to engineering challenges, excelling in both strategic planning and project delivery.
  • strong communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and collaboration.
  • expertise in budget management ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact projects.
  • guided external consultants and contractors to achieve timely and high-quality project outcomes.

 

Key selection criteria

Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Management & technical skills and knowledge developed through a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Fully registered and practicing Engineer with relevant organisation or be eligible and willing to become a Registered Professional Engineer in accordance with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019 within 6 months of successful appointment.
  • Experience in planning and developing work programs, including monitoring, reviewing and reporting to management.
  • Experience in delivering special charge scheme or community focused and funded projects.
  • Highly developed analytical and investigative skills.
  • Current Victorian driver’s licence.
  • Qualification Check.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • You have the permanent right to live and work in Australia.
  • Police check results that are suitable for this position (will be arranged by Surf Coast Shire Council).
    A complete international criminal history check is required if the person has worked or lived overseas for any period of time OR a complete national criminal history check is required if the person has only ever worked in Australia.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • Experience in Local Government.
