Surf Coast Shire Council is currently looking to fill multiple Kindergarten roles to commence in early 2025. What you will bring to the role

We are currently looking for Early Childhood Teachers and Educators who are compassionate, dedicated and driven to making a positive impact on the lives of our local community members and their families.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and practice
  • Knowledge of approved learning frameworks, National Quality Framework and national law and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

Early Childhood Teacher positions

Position 1
Early Childhood Teacher – Permanent Part Time – Kurrambee Myaring Kindergarten & Torquay Kindergarten
35.25 hours per week
23.5 hours contact time (as below), plus 11.75 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week).
Contact time
Monday: 9:00 – 3:00 – KMK
Tuesday: 9:00 – 3:00 – KMK
Wednesday: 9:00 – 3:00 – KMK
Thursday: 8:45 – 3:15 – Torquay
Friday: 8:45 – 12:15 – Torquay

*Position can be split for the right candidate

Position 2
Early Childhood Teacher – Permanent Part Time – Helen M Kininmonth Kindergarten (Winchelsea)
22.5 hours per week
15 hours contact time (as below), plus 7.5 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week).
Contact time
Wednesday: 12:15 – 3:15
Thursday: 8:45 – 2:45
Friday: 8:45 – 2:45

Position 3

36.75 hours per week
29 hours contact time (as below), plus 7.75 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week).

Early Childhood Educator (Bush Kinder) – Permanent Part Time – Helen M Kininmonth Kindergarten (Winchelsea)
6.5 hours per week

Early Childhood Educator (Bush Kinder) – Permanent Part Time – Jan Juc Pre-School
17.5 hours per week

Early Childhood Educator – Permanent Part Time – Lorne Kindergarten  
23 hours per week
18 hours contact time (as below), plus 5 hours non-contact time (negotiable spread across the week)

Key selection criteria

Early Childhood Teacher
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent (AQECQA approved).
  • A current Victorian Institute of Teaching Registration (VIT)
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate a quality educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Quality Framework and quality improvement process in children’s services.
  • Demonstrated ability to adopt an innovative, flexible approach to the provision of children’s services.  
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and contribute towards the development of a productive team culture.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • A current level II First Aid qualification, including Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Child Safe Standards and information sharing/MARRAM reforms.
  • Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace.

Early Childhood Educator
Mandatory qualifications, experience and requirements

  • Minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services from an ACECQA approved training organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families.
  • Experience in assisting in the development and implementation of an educational program in accordance with approved learning frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework and an understanding of how this impacts on daily practice.
  • Excellent skills in verbal and written communication with children, staff and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively with all staff.
  • Ability to manage risks and identify health and safety issues pertaining to workplace.
  • A current level II First Aid qualification, including Asthma, Anaphylaxis and CPR.
