Help shape Surf Coast Shire Council’s priorities
Published on 22 November 2024
What do you think Council should focus on for the next four years?
Surf Coast Shire Council is keen to hear your views to help it develop its new Council Plan, which will set the strategic direction for 2025-2029.
Your feedback will help set Council priorities and you’ll go into the draw to win one of eight $100 vouchers for some of the wonderful local businesses across the shire.
The survey is open until 3 February 2025.
Mayor Cr Mike Bodsworth urged people to take the survey and have their say on Council’s direction.
“We’re really keen to understand community priorities and how we can balance this with Council maintaining a sustainable financial position.”
“Talking to locals, I know many have strong views on Council priorities, so this is your chance to contribute your ideas and help shape where you live.”
“We’d love to hear from as many people as possible from all ages, backgrounds and experiences. The Council Plan will be our guiding document over the next four years so we want to make sure it directly reflects the views and hopes of our community.”
“Importantly, Council will also need to focus on financial sustainability. We want to better understand community priorities so we can provide the best value and most needed services.”
There will be a series of pop up sessions where people can learn more.
A panel of community members will also be established to give advice to Council on the Council Plan.
This will involve 45 local people who will be randomly selected, based on the demographic profile of the shire, to be part of the community panel. Thousands of people across the shire will receive a letter in the post inviting them to apply to join the panel, so keep an eye out in your letterbox.
The Council Plan and Health Wellbeing Plan will guide how Council determines its priorities and makes decisions, including how its annual budget is shaped.
These plans will help ensure people have access to the services they need most; environmental values are enhanced and protected and people are empowered to lead meaningful lives.
