New netball courts pave the way for season success
Just in time for the start of the 2025 netball season, Anglesea, Lorne and Winchelsea netball courts have all been redeveloped.
These netball courts had reached the end of their life and needed to be replaced under Council’s asset renewal program.
Anglesea
Anglesea netball club were still playing on old asphalt courts, with cracks appearing through the courts and sidelines. The upgrade to the courts started in January and has just been completed.
With the courts now the ‘Roos’ royal blue (aerial shot pictured), Anglesea will look for a winning start to the season when they host Ocean Grove for their first home game on Saturday 19 April.
Winchelsea
The Winchelsea netball club have been eagerly watching the redevelopment of their courts.
Winchelsea Football and Netball Club netball coordinator Claire Mawson (pictured), said: “As our community continues to grow, we are beyond excited to have our brand new courts ready for action.
“These fantastic new facilities give our players the perfect place to train, compete, and enjoy the game we love.
“We hope they also catch the eye of newcomers, inviting them to be part of the Winchelsea netball family. Whether a seasoned player or just starting out, there’s a place for everyone here.”

Lorne
Lorne’s netball court is still a work in progress, but is on track to be completed before their first home game of the season on Friday 18 April.
Contractors are working hard to make sure the ‘Dolphins’ will have their home court ready.
Good luck to all netball clubs with the winter season starting over the next couple of weeks.
