Did you know?
The Anglesea Riverbank Walk was recently accredited as an accessible walk. It’s described as having “smooth, firm paths through pretty beach and riverside vegetation. The river is a wide and inviting waterway. It is a great spot for both people and birdwatching.”
The 3.2km walk starts near the Anglesea Beach playground on the Great Ocean Road.
There is room to turn and roll side by side for wheelchairs, while there is also a ramped accessible shelter with BBQs, a concrete floor with room for wheelchairs and to roll under picnic tables. There is a changing places bathroom and accessible toilets at the start of the walk.
The accreditation was audited by Victoria Walks staff, in partnership with Disability Sport and Recreation, Regional Sport Victoria and Scope Australia.
There are numerous other local accessible trails, so that everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of our shire.
Council also has a TrailRider
A TrailRider is an all-terrain wheelchair for hire for those who want to explore more rugged trails. The TrailRider is free to use, with bookings available via our Accessible Parks and Trails webpage. The webpage also has information about accessible trails across the Surf Coast.
