Cr Leon Walker was born and raised on the Surf Coast around Bellbrae and Torquay. A Lorne local for the past 25 years with his wife and two boys, he loves where he lives and is an avid year-round surfer, nature lover and professional photographer.
As a sustainable small business owner, he operates a beachside café and surf shop along with his wife, where they connect with the community daily over coffee, food and conversation.
Cr Walker is an active community member, volunteering on the school council. He has also chaired tourism and traders associations and engages with various local organisations and stakeholders, including sporting and social clubs across the Surf Coast and emergency services. Engaging and giving back to communities is essential to Cr Walker.
He is passionate about building sustainable communities for now and into the future, advocating for small business and tourism, and improving communication and collaboration among the various agencies and stakeholders of the region.
