DEVELOP Artists and Creatives Fund Unearths the Depth of Creative Talent Across the Surf Coast

The 2024 round of Council’s DEVELOP Artists and Creatives Grants has clearly demonstrated the depth of creative talent in all disciplines that exist across the Surf Coast. 

Council received 13 applications and engaged with more than 30 potential applicants in the lead up to the round, awarding 8 DEVELOP grants in a diversity of fields including Literature, Music, Aerial Performance, Playwriting and Visual Arts.

The 2024 DEVELOP Recipients are:

  • Nicholas Dacomb, Winchelsea – Faces and Places – Playwriting Mentorship
  • Jacinta Halloran, Fairhaven – to Present her Fourth Novel at NT Writers Festival, Darwin
  • Gillian Hutchison, Anglesea – GROUNDED – development of longform articles for publication in GALAH and Surfing World
  • Cara Johnson, Bambra – The Gift of Time – New Methodology and Exhibition development
  • Minerva Lamorgese, Bellbrae – for purchase of an Aerial Performance Rig
  • Jordan Prosser, Lorne – BLUE GIANT – Novel development
  • Hugh Riddoch, Jan Juc – MAPPING UP – New Methodology and Exhibition development
  • Jesse Williams and Jack Robbins, Anglesea - Girlatones / Forever Son - Video Vignettes

DEVELOP will re-open on 01 February 2025.

Surf Coast Shire Council is committed to fostering an environment where people with clever and creative ideas can make a difference. We want the Surf Coast Shire to be a place to nurture, acknowledge and promote innovation, the creative arts and industries.

Our DEVELOP Artists and Creatives Fund supports creatives to explore new directions, ideas and concepts to advance their practice and/or their careers.

With these grants, Council recognises that new creative output does not occur without considerable time, research, development and effort.

Projects must be inclusive of people with disability, as per the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
